1,179,734. Heat-treated yarns. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 25 April, 1968 [15 May, 1967], No. 22460/67. Heading B5B. [Also in Divisions D1 and F4] A travelling continuous linear material, e.g. fabric or yarn, is heat treated by passing it longitudinally through a gas burner and through the length of the gaseous flame in the direction of flame propagation. The burner comprises a tubular casing 5, having a longitudinal slot 13, and which surrounds the gas supply pipes 1, 3. Air holes 7 are located in an annular member 11 which also carries a longitudinal slot. Lever 9 allows rotation of member 11 to align the slots for threading the yarn. The hot-relaxing of drawn polyamide yarn is exemplified.
