Abstract

1,179,651. Hydrodenitrification of oils. SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ N.V. 25 March, 1968 [27 March, 1967], No. 14263/68. Heading C5E. Hydrocarbon oils are hydrodenitrified by contacting the oil with a catalyst and hydrogen at 260-485‹ C., 7-350 kg./cm.<SP>2</SP> gauge, S.V. of 0À1-10 v./v./hr., and a hydrogen to oil ratio of 36-2,670 Nm.<SP>3</SP>/m.<SP>3</SP>, the catalyst having been prepared by a process comprising first incorporating ions of one or more of Fe, Co, Ni into a hydrogel of an acid-acting refractory oxidic carrier, thereafter incorporating into the hydrogel anions of one or more of Cr, Mo and W and completing the catalyst by filtering washing, drying and calcining. Hydrocarbon oils referred to include reduced crude oils, deasphalted produced crudes, light gas oils, heavy gas oils, kerosenes naphthas and cyclic oils from cracking operations. Comparative examples describe the removal of nitrogen from californian crude oil.
