Abstract

1323257 Hydroconversion processes TEXACO DEVELOPMENT CORP 8 July 1971 32033/71 Heading C5E Hydrocarbon hydro-conversion processes are carried out by introducing a heavy hydrocarbon charge stock as a downward flow into a reactor system at 600-850‹ F. and 500-5000 p.s.i.g. comprising a first catalyst zone below and a second catalyst zone above the point of entry, introducing hydrogen into the first zone in countercurrent flow to the charge stock in order to maintain a lower-boiling hydrocarbon liquid fraction of the charge stock in said second zone and recovering lower-boiling and/or sulphur content reduced hydrocarbons. Hydrodesulphurization catalysts specified include molybdenum oxide/cobalt oxide, molybdenum oxide/nickel oxide and tungsten sulphide/nickel sulphide; Al 2 O 3 , SiO 2 ZrO 2 , ThO 2 , MgO, TiO 2 , bauxite and acid treated clays may also be present. Hydrocracking catalysts specified include platinum group metals on zeolites. Charge stocks specified include crude oils and vacuum reduced crude oils.
