Abstract

1,179,477. Faller bars. PLASTEX Ltd. 30 Jan., 1968 [15 Feb., 1967], No. 7148/67. Heading D1N. A faller bar 10 or other comb like member which has a synthetic resin or plastics body part in which is embedded at least one longitudinally extending metal strengthening member 14, also has a metal plate 18 projecting beyond each end of the body part for engagement with parts of the machine with which the bar is used. Each metal plate may have a pair of parallel tang pieces 20 (Fig. 4) between which the end of the metal member 14 extends, one or more holes being drilled in the tang pieces so that the synthetic material during moulding is caused to extend through the holes to securely anchor the plates. Alternatively each plate has one tang part (Fig. 10) which extends in parallel with the adjacent end portion 30 of member 14. Either the plates are separate from the member 14 or else the member 14 consists of separate pieces spaced apart slightly to allow for breakage of the body part at a predetermined overload point depending on the synthetic material used. The member 14 is exposed through holes 26 for discharging static electricity through contact with a metal part of the machine.
