Abstract
1,179,442. Foam lagging elements. TECHNIGAZ. 22 Feb., 1967 [3 March, 1966], No. 8488/67. Heading B5A. [Also in Divisions F2 and F4] Method of making lagging elements comprises dipping a cellular framework 2 into a foam plastics medium 10, e.g. polyurethane, contained in a tank 6, prior to the onset of polymerization and foaming, and confining the framework on all its outer sides and faces to limit the expansion of the foam plastics to the overall size of the framework. At least some of the walls of the framework defining the cells have intercommunicating passageways opening towards the same side or running into the same major face of the framework, whereby air trapped by the rising foam can escape through openings 9 in a cover 7. The cover can be integral with the framework 2, and is made from plywood or laminated, compressed or agglomerated wood. The framework is made from paper, card, fibre, board, alloy or stainless steel.
