Abstract

1,179,025. Selective printing. MASCHINEN BAU "WAM" M. OSTERHOF. 7 March, 1967 [18 July, 1966], No. 10651/67. Heading B6F. Number-printing apparatus comprises an axially displaceable shaft 3 coupling a knurled disc 9 with printing wheels 2 and indicating wheels 5, the coupling means including adjusting rings 6, 7 secured to the shaft, and sleeves 4<SP>1</SP>-4<SP>111</SP> non-rotatably mounted in a printing cylinder 1 and axially displaceable with the shaft 3. Each sleeve is provided with a longitudinal projection 8<SP>1</SP> engaging a respective recess in a bush 10 fixed to the cylinder 1 and a recess in a selected printing wheel 2 and indicating wheel 5 to secure the wheels against rotation, and each adjusting ring 6, 7 has a projection 8 engaging a recess in a printing wheel 2 and the corresponding indicating wheel 5 selected by axial displacement of the shaft 3, so that the printing wheel and indicating wheel can be adjusted by rotation of the shaft. The projections 8<SP>1</SP> are formed as beads embedded in recesses in the sleeves 4<SP>1</SP>-4<SP>111</SP>, and the projections 8 comprise ends of pins 6<SP>1</SP>, 7<SP>1</SP> attached to the adjusting rings 6, 7 respectively. A pointer 12 attached to a rod (11), Fig. 1 (not shown) indicates the position of the adjusting ring 7 and hence the selected indicating wheel 5 and printing wheel 2. The positioning of the indicating wheels 5 between the printing cylinder 1 and the knurled disc 9 facilitates exchange of the printing cylinder. In a modification, Fig. 8 (not shown), the printing cylinder (1) lies between the indicating wheels (5) and the knurled disc (9).
