Abstract

1,178,976. Microtomes. SOUTH LONDON ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT CO. Ltd. May 24, 1967 [May 25, 1966], No.23364/66. Heading G2J. An adjustable microtome anti-roll plate assembly comprises a glass plate 1 mounted in a holder 5 which is coupled to a carrier 7 by means of two screws 12 having eccentric cams 14 located in apertures 13 in the holder 5. The carrier 7 is mounted for rotation about the longitudinal axis of a pillar 6. Paper tapes 2 on the edges of the plate 1 space the plate from the microtome knife (not shown). Specification 1,028,078 is referred to. The plate 1 and holder 5 are accurately adjusted vertically by turning the cam 14 either equal or different amounts. When the tapes 2 at the edges of the plate 1 come into contact with the knife edge, as the plate is brought into operating position, the plate is automatically turned through rotation of carrier 7, so that it is parallel to the knife edge.
