Abstract

1,177,949. Guillotine cutting machines. MECCANO Ltd. 4 Oct., 1967 [14 Oct., 1966], No. 46084/66. Heading B4B. [Also in Division F2] In a portable guillotine, a cutting blade 29 is shielded by a guard plate 28 formed of transparent material which is movable relative to the cutting blade 29 to enable the blade to pierce the work material. The cutting blade 29 is fixed to a mounting block 30 secured to the machine frame. A slide block 21 carries a table plate 22 which is reciprocated by a cam 18 on rotation of a shaft 15 by means of a handle 16. The shaft 15 also carries a cam 19 which operates on a push rod 26 and rocking lever 27 to cause the guard plate 28 to act as a stripper. A cutter receiving slot 24 is formed in the table plate 22. Alternatively the table plate comprises a fibre pad 51 secured in a depression 50, Fig. 5.
