Abstract
1,177,809. Handling coke oven doors. MONTECATINI EDISON S.p.A., and VETROCOKE S.p.A. 15 March, 1967 [22 March, 1966], No. 12198/67. Heading C5E. A device X for removing the doors of horizontal coke ovens is mounted on a member A pivoted at G to a carriage B (seen in plan) movable by a piston and cylinder arrangement H, the member A having two pivot points E, F which engage respectively points on members D, C depending on whether the device X is removing the door (as illustrated in Fig. 1) or withdrawing and angularly shifting the door (as illustrated in Fig. 3, not shown). The member D is a support fixed to the carriage B, and the member C is an arm pivoted at S to an external frame (not shown), the points E, F being studs which are adapted to engage the parts D, C. As the carriage B is retracted, the member A is automatically lifted up a rod G, by means not shown, to disengage E, D and engage F, C, see Fig. 2 (not shown), further retraction causing the arm C to rotate anti-clockwise about S to cause the member A to rotate about G, and with it, the device X and the door.
