Abstract

1,177,789. Seats. VOLKSWAGENWERK A.G. 20 Dec., 1967, No. 57984/67. Heading A4J. In an adjustable car seat mounted at the front, on a pivoted strut 16 and having rear supports 11, displaceable along rails 12, a pin 19 can be withdrawn, from one of a row of holes in extension 17 of strut 16, to allow the seat to be tilted, about pins 14, to a fresh position of adjustment or to be swung rearwardly, to provide access to a battery 21, which may be arranged beneath the seat. To facilitate re-adjustment, when the seat is occupied, the pins 14 are arranged to lie in the vertical plane of the centre of gravity X of the seat and occupant. A retractable pin 14 engages a hole in a rail 12, on one or both sides of the seat and, on raising the arm 15, is retracted to allow the supports 11 to slide along the rails.
