Abstract

1,177,313. Valves. BALZERS PATENTUND BETEILIGUNGS-A.G. 7 March, 1968 [28 March, 1967], No. 11248/68. Heading F2V. An isolating valve for high vacuum installations comprises a closure member 4 loosely carried by a stem 6 and engageable with a knife-edge seating 11. To ensure that the closure member is correctly orientated relative to the seating prior to engaging the latter, an auxiliary guide ring 12 is secured to the closure member via resilient diaphragm 13. The ring co-operates with groove 14 to guide the closure member. As an alternative, the ring 12 is replaced by ring (22) mounted on the bottom of the closure member by diaphragm (21). The ring (23) co-operates with shoulder (23) adjacent the seating to guide the closure member.
