Abstract

1,177,277. Asynchronous generator. S. CUCCHI. 15 Feb., 1967 [19 Feb., 1966], No. 7278/67. Heading H2A. A capacitor excited asynchronous induction generator has parts of the stator winding connected in series with a capacitor so that when the squirrel-cage rotor rotates an output is obtained across the remainder of the stator winding parts. In the single-phase generator shown, capacitor 10 is connected in series with the whole of two phase windings 15, 16; 14, 13 and the output appears across the third phase winding 11, 12. For 3-phase generation the connections between the phase winding parts are removed and half windings (12<SP>1</SP>, 14<SP>1</SP>, 16<SP>1</SP>) are connected in series with the capacitor so that a 3-phase output is obtained across the other halves of the phase windings ( 11<SP>1</SP>, 13<SP>1</SP>, 15<SP>1</SP>), which are connected in star, Fig. 3 (not shown), or delta. In both embodiments one of the part windings is reversed when connected in series with the capacitor.
