Abstract
As the size of turbogenerators to give greater output per unit volume, greater design perfection is required of the cooling system. During the unstable condition provoked by a fault between phase conductors or between phase and earth, dangerous overheating can occur within the generator. In this machine the rotor is circular, with longitudinal grooves which lie between the poles, and with windings lying in those grooves. Damping is provided to counteract the unstable conditions by longitudinal conductors of low resistance which are extended in a radial direction in such a way that their extremities can be connected together.
