Abstract

1,176,442. Motor vehicle driving gear arrangements. DR. ING. h. c. F. PORSCHE K.G. 1 May, 1968 [3 May, 1967], No. 20559/68. Heading B7H. [Also in in Division F1] A vehicle drive arrangement comprises an internal combustion engine 1, with a housing 4, and an output shaft 8 with an axis of rotation X-X; a change-speed gear transmission 2 having a housing 5, an impact shaft 10 concentric with and drivingly connected to the shaft 8 and an output member 17 with an axis of rotation Y-Y which is parallel to and spaced from the axis X-X; a differential gear 3 in a housing 6 and having opposed axle output shafts 29, 30 with an axis Z-Z which is perpendicular to the axis X-X and an intermediate shaft 13 drivingly interconnecting the output member 17 and the differential gear 3 and having an axis of rotation parallel to the engine axis X-X, the housings 4 and 6 being connected by a spigot connection 31/32 and a connection provided by a cylindrical extension 28 of the housing 6 concentric with the axis of the shaft 13 and received within a corresponding bearing portion 34 of the housing 1. The intermediate shaft is mounted in the housing 6 by a pair of bearings 27 and is disengageably mounted in the output member 17 by a splined shaft portion 20. The flanged meeting surfaces 25, 26 of the housings 1, 2 and 3 are connected by bolts and dowel pins 43. Preferably the clutch 9 permits radial play between the shafts 8 and 10 to allow for shaft misalignment.
