Abstract

1,176,156. Skinning carcases. GOTLANDS ANDELSSLAKTERIFÍRENING U.P.A. 6 Nov., 1967 [10 Nov., 1966], No. 50274/67. Heading A2U. A carcase 4 (e.g. sheep) is skinned by placing it on a trolley, loosening the skin from the legs, breast and abdomen and ripping the skin along the abdomen as the trolley is moved from position 5a to 5e, lifting the carcase by a pneumatically operated lever 6c to a suspension rail 6, moving the carcase suspended by its hind legs along the rail 6, fixing the front legs of the carcase to adjustable holding means on a frame 9, fixing a chain or wire 10 to the skin adjacent the neck of the carcase and operating an electrically driven winch or drum 11 to wind the chain or wire to pull the skin off the carcase from the neck towards the hind legs. The part of the chain or wire 10 adjacent the neck is at angle of between 20 degrees and 70 degrees relative to the horizontal plane.
