Abstract
117,613. Motosacoche Soc. Anon., and Isliker, A. July 4, 1917, [Convention date]. Crank chambers.-To prevent leakage from and between the crank chambers of engines using crank-case compression, and others, the crank casing is divided horizontally in a plane which coincides with the bottom faces of blocks f<8> which support the lower halves f<7> of the crank-shaft bearings. The bearings and the blocks f<8> are mounted in vertical division plates in the crank casing, the blocks being secured in position by bolts i, the nuts j of which engage a plate k located beneath each block f<8>. Packing-strips are inserted beneath the blocks when the bearings are adjusted to take up wear. Modifications are described in which the division plane of the casing is coincident with the lower faces of the plates k, and in which adjustable side plates carried by the blocks f<8> bear upon the lower half of the casing.
