Abstract

1,176,055. Printing apparatus. GUHL & SCHEIBLER A.G. 4 April, 1967 [4 April, 1966], No. 15311/67. Heading B6C. Apparatus for printing tickets or labels comprises a printing cylinder displaceably mounted on a drive shaft, the cylinder having a plurality of adjustable type mechanisms, wherein the coupling between the drive shaft and the cylinder is selectively engageable to determine the sequence in which the type mechanisms print upon the tickets and labels. In Fig. 1, a printing cylinder 1 has adjustable type mechanisms W 1 , W 2 , W 3 and a type field S arranged about its periphery; the cylinder is rotated by drive shaft 2 when it is displaced in the direction of arrow A so that pin 5 fixed to coupling ring 4 rigid on shaft 2, selectively engages with one of bores a, b, c, d, the selection determining the order of printing on a ticket or label (Figs. 2, 3, not shown). The type field S may accommodate individual type bars in channels 17, or stereotype plates; the adjustable type mechanisms are longitudinal cylindrical bodies on central axes 12. Knurled discs 16a to 16n adjusting their respective type discs 14a-14n, and components 13 and 15 centering and securing the discs. The apparatus is particularly used in the stamping of numerical information on tickets, the printing cylinder working in co-operation with an inking roller and a counter-pressure roller and a feed pawl advancing a strip of tickets after each revolution of the cylinder (Fig. 2, not shown).
