Abstract
1,174,831. Electro-photographic process. XEROX CORP. Jan.2, 1967 [Jan. 6, 1966], No.60/67. Heading G2H. In a process for preparing electro-photographic images by positioning a suspension of electrically photo-sensitive pigment particles in an insulating liquid between a portion of a first electrode, which is preferably transparent, and a second electrode, and simultaneously imagewise exposing the suspension (e.g. through the transparent electrode) and applying thereto an electric field whereby an image of migrated particles is formed on at least one electrode, the air-gap between the electrodes is filled with an insulating liquid before the electrodes are brought into proximity in the imaging area. The second electrode may be in the form of a roller and either a pool of liquid is formed between the roller and first electrode or the entire surface of the second electrode is covered with liquid. Multi-colour images may be prepared using a suspension of cyan, magenta and yellow particles.
