Abstract

117,481. Slater, E. July 13, 1917. Direct air-pressure apparatus, non-automatic.- In apparatus for spraying liquids, more particularly for moistening the air in cotton mills &c., in which the liquid is atomized by air pressure, an ejector is, provided connected to the liquid container and compressed air container so arranged that when the air pressure falls below the normal the pressure in the liquid container is reduced to stop the flow of liquid to the spraying nozzle. The liquid container A has an outlet a<1> for supplying the nozzles and a pipe B for compressed air. Compressed air flows through the pipe B<1> to the atomizing nozzles and through the branches b, b<1> to the pipe B. An ejector C is fitted in such a position as will exhaust air from the container A. The ejector is open at its lower end but is closed by means of the valve D when compressed air is admitted below the piston E If the pressure falls below a predetermined amount, the valve D is opened and the air passing through the ejector C causes a reduction in the pressure in the chamber A. A pressure gauge G and valve H to regulate the pressure in the chamber A may also be provided. A stop valve K and three-way valve K' are connected so that the cylinder e is opened to atmosphere when the valve K is closed.
