1285440 Spray producers HEIMO GERATEBAU GmbH 23 Dec 1970 [24 Dec 1969] 61292/70 Heading B2F A spray producer for atomizing and spraying a liquid held in a container 17 has an oscillating burner resonator 6 with a combustion chamber 8 fed with fuel from a carburettor 19 through a suction tube 20, the outlet of the resonator being through a pipe 9, the resonator being cooled by air supplied from a combustion motor driven blower 1 through a flexible tube 5 to a cooling cover 7 around the resonator 6, this air eventually exiting from an annular nozzle 14, the liquid to be sprayed being supplied to the resonator outlet tube 9 at an inlet 15 from a supply hose 16, the mist produced thereby exiting from a widened portion of this pipe 17 and being confined laterally by the air from the nozzle 14. Around this combustion chamber 8 is located a heat protection cover 23, this being inside the cooling cover 7, closed at its upstream end 24 and open at its downstream end 25. The carburettor 19 has, extending into the space between the cooling cover 7 and the heat protection cover 23, a starting air pipe 26 which is connected to the rear 27 of the carburettor 19, the carburettor being supplied with fuel from a container 29, through which a section 11 of the cooling cover 7 passes to support it, the carburettor also having a pipe 31 to return excess fuel to the container 29. The carburettor, which comprises a fuel whirling chamber and a twisting member located in the entrance to the pipe 20 at the carburettor, to ensure mixing of the fuel and air, also has an adjusting mechanism consisting of a diaphragm controlled valve operated by pressure from a by-pass from the pipe 26 which opens the fuel whirling chamber to the atmosphere and stops operation of the carburettor if the blower pressure drops. Another diaphragm controlled valve is situated at the spray liquid inlet 15, this comprising a catch bolt connected to a diaphragm whose pressure side communicates with the combustion chamber 8, a drop in pressure in this chamber withdrawing the bolt and allowing a spring operated valve to close and shut off the spray liquid supply. A further valve in this supply pipe 16 is a three-way valve mounted on top of the cooling cover 7 with an inlet communicating with the inside of this, it being adjustable either to allow the free passage of spray material through the pipe 16 or to shut off this supply and connect the air from the blower to the downstream section of the pipe 16, which air cleans the pipe. The pipe 16 is also separable from the supply tank 17 at a connection 59, which connection has a valve such that the spray liquid does not escape when the pipe 16 is removed. The flexible tube 5 is also separable from the cooling cover 7 by removing a tear-off connection. The ignition of the fuel in the combustion chamber 8 may be by way of an ignition circuit common to that for the combustion motor 2, or may be separate. The apparatus may be carried on the back, the spray being directed manually.
