Abstract

1,174,471. Packaging compressible articles. G. N. ROTHERAY. 29 March, 1968 [4 April, 1967], No. 15373/67. Addition to 1,147,445. Heading B8C. The invention of the main Specification is modified in that the outer container is a carton having top closure flaps or a bag. After filling and evacuating the inner bag and placing the outer bag or carton over it, the package is inverted to allow the closure flaps to be folded over to enclose the contents before banding. The outer bag may be sealed by hooks or stitching. In the case of the carton, a closure flap may have a slit leading to a tongue in the adjacent wall, the tongue covering a suction nozzle to be inserted into the inner air-tight bag. The frame or former may be lifted off the compressed articles by, e.g. counterbalancing means, slides or claws instead of having front doors as in the main Specification.
