Abstract

1,172,286. Boxes. TOPPS OF ENGLAND Ltd. 1 Nov., 1967, No. 49677/67. Heading B8P. A display box, e.g. for a watch band, comprises a frame 26 having a pair of parallel sides formed with channels 34, a cover 23 having a recessed portion 24 for receiving a watch band and flanges 37 positioned slidably to engage within the channels during assembly and dismantling of the box, a backing member 25 shaped to slide into the channels to close the recessed portion of the cover, at least a portion of the cover being transparent to form a window enabling an article in the box to be viewed, and lugs 31, 32 on the frame at opposite ends of the frame co-operating to hold the cover against endwise movement. The channels are formed between top walls 26B and inwardly projecting lugs 33. The lugs 31, 32 are of different widths and co-operate with different size notches 44, 45 in the cover so that the cover can only be inserted in the frame in one orientation. The lug 31 engages beneath an auxiliary recess 24A, e.g. for pins of the cover, when the box is assembled. The backing member is held at one end by the lug 30 and at the other end frictionally engages the frame (Fig. 12, not shown). An eye 30 for suspending the box is provided. The recess 24 is provided with a label receiving portion 40. Cavities 29 (Fig. 3) may receive additional links if the box includes an adjustable link-type watch band. The frame and cover are preferably made of plastics.
