A solution is cooled or evaporated to effect crystallization, the resulting crude crystals and mother liquor are separated by centrifugation, the crude crystals are mixed with fresh solvent to form a paste of purified crystals and solution, the purified crystals and solution are separated by centrifugation, and the separated solution, alone or together with mother liquor, is added to fresh solution to be crystallized. The crude crystals may be mixed with fresh solvent together with a portion of the separated solution to form the paste.
