1277282 Purification of 4,4-dihydroxy-diphenyl - 2,2 - propane or the phenol adduct thereof FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER AG 14 Aug 1969 [17 Sept 1968] 40626/69 Heading C2C A process for the purification of 4,41-dihydroxydiphenyl - 2,2 - propane or the phenol adduct thereof wherein a mixed melt of 4,4<SP>1</SP>- dihydroxy - diphenyl - 2,2 - propane, phenol and impurities is cooled and the resulting crystal-slurry is separated from the mother liquor and washed with a melt of pure 4,4<SP>1</SP>- dihydroxy - diphenyl - 2,2 - propane or of pure phenol-adduct thereof whose temperature is up to 25‹ C. above its solidification point, and purified crystals thus obtained are fused and run off, the temperature of the crystal-slurry being adjusted to from 90‹ to 120‹ C. for the preparation of 4,4<SP>1</SP>-dihydroxy-diphenyl-2,2-propane and to from 55‹ to 88‹ C. for the preparation of the phenol-adduct, whilst the run-off temperature of the mother liquor is adjusted to from 100‹ to 130‹ C. for the preparation of 4,4<SP>1</SP>- dihydroxy-diphenyl-2,2-propane and from 70‹ to 90‹ C. for the preparation of phenol adduct.
