[Also in Division C2] In the separation of orthoboric acidfrom the aqueous phase obtained by the hydrolysis of a boric acid ester which is prepared by the partial oxidation of a hydrocarbon in the presence of a boron compound, the orthoboric acid is crystallized from the aqueous phase in a zone in which all the surfaces in contact with the crystals and the mother liquor are surfaced with glass, ceramic or porcelain to avoid deposition of boric acid thereon.
