Abstract
1,171,667. Heat resistant doors. BADISCHE ANILIN-& SODA-FABRIK A.G. 28 March, 1967 [1 April, 1966], No. 14045/67. Heading E1J. A fire-resisting door comprising veneer surfaces 1 covering a frame 5 and panel 6 with a facing (2) of an incombustible thermally insulating material e.g. a sheet of alkali metal silicate containing fibres (e.g. glass fibres) and water, is provided along its edges and/or in the frame rabbet, with strips consisting of at least one layer 3 of alkali metal silicate containing fibres and water and a layer 3a of a material having a good thermal conductivity e.g. aluminium foil, the strips being arranged with their major faces perpendicular to the face of the door. At least one corner of the door is preferably chamfered and the chamfer filled up with a plurality of alternate layers 3 of alkali metal silicate containing fibers and water and aluminium &c foil 3a with their major faces perpendicular to the face of the door. The edge surfaces of the door are covered by an outer layer 4 of hardwood, asbestos cement sheets or plastics.
