Abstract

1,171,643. Reclaiming bulk material from piles. BARBER-GREENE CO. 20 Oct., 1966 [24 Oct., 1965], No. 9093/69. Divided out of 1,171,642. Heading B8E. [Also in Division E1] Material is reclaimed from a stockpile by digging into the side face of the pile at its base in a path along the length of the face to create a stream of material flowing from the pile whilst digging into the upper part of the side face occurs to create a downward flow of material that is confined along one downward side of the flow to form a second stream of material that subsequently merges with the first stream, the combined streams being caused to move angularly away from the face. The first stream is created by a bucket wheel 8, the second stream is created by a rotor 26 mounted on a boom 18a which confines the downward flowing stream of material on one side as specified above, and the streams are combined on and removed by a conveyer 20. The reclaimer forms the subject-matter of Specification 1,171,642.
