Abstract

1,170,732. Wrapping in more than one wrapper. MOLINS MACHINE CO. Ltd., and D. H. YOUNGMAN. 11 Jan., 1967 [11 Jan., 1966], No. 1278/66. Heading B8C. Packets P, delivered from a packaging machine with at least one projecting flange F, are pushed against a wrapping sheet W overlying a recess R in a rotatable drum D so that the flange is folded down, and the sheet folds to U-shape about three sides of the packet as it enters the recess. In the embodiment, the wrapping sheet W is retained on rotating drum D by suction means SP, and is severed from a reel by a knife assembly KA. As the packet enters the recess R the wrapper W is folded in U-shape and the flanges are folded against the packet sides. The packet is discharged when the drum has rotated to a position U. Sealing and further folding operations may be effected in the zone Z.
