Abstract

1,170,288. Lathe tool holders. W. H. KAISER. 6 Dec., 1966, No. 54633/66. Heading B3T. A tool holder comprises a shank 12 having a recess 20 formed in its upper surface adjacent one end, the recess housing a clamping ring 50 which at one side engages the top outer edge of a cutting bit or tool 60 and at the other side rests on a sloping crescent shaped raised surface 40 in the base of the recess, a screw 54 acting when tightened down to clamp the ring on the tool 60. The tool is supported on a sloping surface 31 laterally of the toolholder shank; it may be of miniature dimensions, e.g. of width 0À01 to 0À05 inch.
