Abstract

1,168,840. Igniting burners. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS Inc. 3 Nov., 1966 [8 Nov., 1965], No. 49277/66. Headings F4F and F4T. [Also in Division H5] A burner ignition system includes a tungsten wire core 41 covered by a coating 43 of silicon carbide to protect the wire from oxidization on heating, the device providing both an igniting filament and a flame sensing thermistor since the layer 43 which has a negative temperature coefficient of resistivity is employed as temperature sensitive material. The thermistor material (TH1) is connected in one arm of a D.C. bridge which is completed by resistors (R11, R12, R13) and an amplifier (AMP2) applies an amplified error signal to a switching circuit (SWK2) controlling a relay (R7) to energize a valve solenoid (VI) controlling fuel supply to the burner. A warp switch (WS1) limits the ignition interval.
