Abstract

1309254 Automatic control of temperature ADCOLA PRODUCTS Ltd 26 April 1971 [26 Jan 1970] 3681/70 Heading G3R The temperature of a soldering iron bit 1, Fig.2 is sensed by a thermistor 27 within a bore of the bit or alternatively by a resistance wire wound coaxially around and insulated from the iron heating element 3 as illustrated, Fig. 1 (not shown). The temp sensor is connected in a bridge circuit Fig. 3 being represented by resistor 8. The desired temperature is pre-set on R15 and any fall in temperature therefrom unbalances the bridge and produces an output from differential amplifier 20 to fire a triac 22 in series with the heater element 3, each half-cycle of the A.C. supply until the sensed temperature is restored to the desired value. The wire sensing element may be of nickel or platinum.
