Abstract

717,977. Automatic control systems. LANDIS & GYR AKT.-GES. April 4, 1952 [April 6, 1951], No. 8715/52. Class 38(4) A resistance detector 1 (e.g. temperature sensitive resistor) is arranged in a bridge circuit to control through a magnetic amplifier 11 a relay 14 energizing e.g. a damper-operating solenoid 40. Various combinations with feed back circuits, and reversible servomotors are described: (i) current feedback from the relay may be applied to a control winding 20 to impart a snap-action to the amplifier operation; (ii) alternatively feedback may be applied by heating one of a pair of temperature sensitive resistors 21, 22 in the bridge circuit when the relay operates to cause cycling, in addition the other temperature sensitive-resistor may be heated with a longer time constant heater to produce a proportional plus integral type of control; (iii) a balanced differential circuit may be used instead of a bridge, Fig. 3 (not shown); (iv) a biased relay may be used to control a reversible servomotor, Fig. 4 (not shown) or a pair of magnetic amplifiers may be connected differentially to a double wound relay controlling a reversible servomotor, Fig. 5 (not shown); (v) a displacement feedback potentiometer driven by the servomotor may be connected (a) in the bridge circuit, Fig. 6 (not shown) or (b) to a separate control winding on the amplifier, Fig. 7 (not shown), or thermal type feedback (see ii above) may be used with the servomotor control.Fig. 8 (not shown).
