Abstract

1,168,508. Shaft seal. FIAT S.p.A. 12 June, 1967 [15 June, 1966], No. 27054/67. Heading F2B. A sealing ring 8 of resilient material for the shaft 1 of a pump is generally flat and provided on each of its faces with a singular rib, or a single pair of concentric ribs, of rounded or V-shaped profile and symmetrically disposed. The ring is compressed against both the shaft and a guide bush 4 with or without the assistance of axially-acting springs. The peripheral edges of the ring may be concave or convex and the faces may also be curved.
