Abstract
1,168,082. Tentering-machines. WM. R. STEWART & SONS (HACKLEMAKERS) Ltd. 26 Sept., 1967 [29 June, 1966], No. 29203/ 66. Heading D1S. One surface of a tenter pin plate or block 1 is provided with a row or rows of sharp pins 2 alternating with at least one row of projections 3 and the arrangement is such that a space or spaces for the passage of air is provided between the web of material being tentered and at least a major part of the area of the surface. In one embodiment, Fig. 1, the projections 3 comprise inclined blunt stainless steel pins 3 which are of less height but may be of larger diameter than the pins 2. The pins 2 may be arranged in rows alternately with the pins 3 or the pins 2, 3 may be arranged alternately in three or more rows. In a further embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown), the block is formed with longitudinally extending triangular cross-section projections (6) and the pins (2) are arranged in the space or spaces therebetween. In a modification (not shown), transverse or oblique slots are formed in the triangular cross-section projections to increase the air flow. In another embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), rows of spaced pyramidal projections (7) are provided with the pins (2) arranged in the spaces therebetween.
