Abstract

1,166,963. Testing strip material. RHONEPOULENC S.A. Jan. 1, 1968 [Jan.30, 1967], No. 148/68. Heading G1S. [Also in Divisions G4 and H1] Apparatus for detecting discontinuities in a moving article such as a strip in which flaws are to be detected, comprises a gas jet nozzle 8 Fig. 1 directing a jet against a portion of the article moving in a guide groove 2 and gas pressure sensitive means in the path of the jet and having an electrical device such as a switch, strain gauge or piezo-electric device operable thereby. In the example a diaphragm 10 attached to the rear of a guide plate 1 moves electric switch contacts 12 into engagement with adjustable contact 13. The nozzle 8 is mounted on a transparent plate 4 held by spring clips 5 on the guide plate 1.
