Abstract

PURPOSE: To secure the accurate measurement for the cursor position with a simplified structure by detecting the electric traveling wave on the platen via the cursor and then measuring the cursor position based on the time delay to the reference signal.
CONSTITUTION: The paper to be read is put on platen 3 of coordinates reader 1, and then cursor 4 is shifted along the optional point or line. Cursor 4 is composed of transparent pickup electrode 2 which forms the electrostatic capacity between traces inserted to platen 3 along with shield 54 distributed vertically and horizontally. At the same time, electrode 24 is made into the 3-tier transparent electrode and absorbs cursor 4 onto platen 3 via the vaccum chuck within the accessory cable. Then the adsorption and cut off are controlled by air switch 55. And then the position of cursor 4 is measured based on the delay of the reference signal under the control of controller 2. Thus the coordinates position on the paper can be read accurately through a simple-structure device.
