1,165,852. Electric water heaters. SIEMENS - ELECTROGERATE G.m.b.H. 24 Jan., 1968 [1 Feb., 1967], No. 3834/65. Heading H3H. When the top 4 of a geyser 1 is opened bimetallic element 5 is cooled by cold water flowing through supply pipe 2 and closes a contact set 9 to connect heating element 10 to supply 13, a pair of heaters 11 and 12 in parallel with the geyser heating element 10 being provided to heat the bimetallic element 5 so that it will open the contact at 9 more rapidly after the tap 4 has been closed. The bimetallic element has two sensing sections, section 6 sensing the water supply temperature and section 7 sensing the room temperature. If, while the tap 4 is closed, the room temperature drops to the region of the supply temperature, the heating element 10 will be switched on and off until the temperature in the pipe 2 is raised sufficiently to cause contact set 9 to open. Cooling of sensing section 6 of bimetal 5 may be delayed by surrounding thermal insulation or by widening the inlet pipe 2 to form a chamber 14.
