Abstract

116,577. Vickers, Ltd., and Brown, H. F. July 4, 1917. Casings; commutators and collecting rings.-A connexion between the rotor winding and a slip ring 2 is made by an insulated conductor 3 placed in a slot in the shaft 1; and the top of the slot is closed by a sliding piece 5. The piece 5 may be made in sections and undercut as shown; or the sides of the pieces 5 may be parallel and the pieces held in position by set-screws or by a binding wire. A good running air seal between the casing and the shaft is made by knife-edged scrapers 6 or by a packing-gland.
