Abstract

1,165,535. Microwave ovens. MICROTHERM Ltd. 29 Dec., 1966 [13 Oct., 1965], No. 43522/65. Heading A2A. [Also in Divisions F4 and H5] A microwave oven 2 has an external grid support 25 slideably mounting a door 20 for closing an aperture 28, said door carrying guides 26 telescoping in sleeves 27 against springs 41. Food 31 is placed on support 25 and the door closed by a handle 19, said handle 19 having rods 37 sildeably mounted in the door and carrying an insertion member 34 that on closure of the door pushes the food 31 on to a turntable 12. When handle 19 is released, springs 38 move member 34 out of engagement with food 31. A withdrawal member 35 carried by rods 33 projecting from door 20 engages a pin 39 of a microswitch 40 to commence the heating cycle. The door is held closed during heating by pawls 45, 46 engaging in slots 36 in guides 26. On termination of heating, a solenoid 53 is energized and releases pawls 45, 46 to allow the door to spring open, member 35 drawing the cooked food 32 on to support 25. Microwaves energy is received through slots (16, 17, Fig. 1) from a magnetron as in Specification 977,777. Cooling air to the magnetron is drawn by a fan (60, Fig. 5).
