Abstract

1,163,505. Cutting webs longitudinally. VALMET OY. 7 March, 1968 [7 March, 1967], No. 11284/68. Heading B4B. Apparatus for longitudinally cutting travelling webs or successively-fed sheets of paper, comprises pairs of upper and lower displaceable blade slides 5, 10, each pair of upper and lower slides being mechanically coupled to one another, there being adjustment mechanism for the position of the blade slides for desired cutting widths, one of the slides of each pair being connected to a digital control unit. The upper and lower blade slides are driven by lead screws 8, 12 which are connected by gear mechanism 21, 23 (Fig. 2, not shown) carried by a shaft 22 driven by an electric motor 19. The lower blade slide of each pair is connected to a digital control unit. The upper and lower slides are engaged and disengaged from the lead screws by devices 9, 13, Fig. 3, and are locked in adjusted position by slide-locking devices 24, 26.
