1,163,425. 1,3 - Disilyl - 1,3 - diaza - 2 - silacycloalkanes. MONSANTO CO. 19 Aug., 1966 [20 Aug., 1965], No. 37293/66. Addition to 1,156,881. Heading C3S. 1,3 - Disilyl - 1,3 - diaza - 2 - silacycloalkanes of the general Formula I: wherein n represents an integer from 1 to 10; R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> taken separately represent substituted or unsubstituted, saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon groups, heterocyclic groups or silyl groups, all of which may be linked through an oxygen atom, silyl groups linked through a nitrogen atom, or represent hydrogen atoms or fluorine atoms, or when taken together with the attached Si atom form a substituted or unsubstituted heterocyclic ring; R<SP>3</SP> represents a substituted or unsubstituted, saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group or a heterocyclic group, or a silyl group, all of which may be linked through an oxygen atom, or a silyl group linked through a nitrogen atom or an amine group which may be primary, secondary or tertiary (the other substituents on the amine being hydrocarbons); and R<SP>4</SP> represents a substituted or unsubstituted saturated or unsaturated aliphatic divalent hydrocarbon group linked through carbon atoms to the ring nitrogen atoms in 1, 2- or 1,3-positions, or represents a divalent aromatic or heterocyclic group linked in ortho position or a polynuclear ring linked in peri position, any of which divalent groups may contain a substituent -0-, -S-, -S-S-, -NH-, -NR<SP>1</SP>-, -SiR<SP>11</SP> 2 -, -NSiR<SP>11</SP> 3 -, -SO- or -SO 2 -, wherein R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>11</SP> are organic groups, are prepared by reacting corresponding compounds in which a halogen or amino substituent replaces the substituent R<SP>3</SP> with compounds of the general formula MR<SP>3</SP>, M being an alkali metal atom, or a hydrogen atom. The compounds in which n is 2 to 10 are stated to be novel. In the examples, oligomers of 1,3-bis-(dimethylchlorosilyl)-2,2-dimethyl- 1,3 - diaza - 2 - silacyclopentane have the chlorine atoms substituted by butyl groups (using BuLi), phenyl groups (using PhNa), diethylamino groups (using Et 2 NH), phenoxy groups (m-cresol) and various siloxy groups.
