Abstract

116,313. Jackson, I., and Jackson & Sons, I. May 4, 1917. Projectiles.-Blanks for hammers for fuses of the kind known as No 106 are produced by acting upon lengths of wire with dies. A length b is held in a die c and acted upon by dies e, e<1> to produce a head with a frustro-conical shape. It is then removed to a second die s<2> and acted upon by dies e<2>, e<3> to produce the shape shown in Fig. 5 wherein the head is fashioned to cylindrical shape f<3> and recessed at f<4>. Separate lengths b may be used initially, or the rod a may be headed initially, and the length then cut off and finished.
