Abstract

[Also in Division E1] In a method of producing a series of concrete blocks linked together so as to be relatively adjustable laterally or vertically, a metal spine or core or a sheet of expanded metal 18, Fig. 1, is centrally located in a rectangular mould cavity by pairs of opposed core elements 14, 15 which extend from the mould side walls 3, 4 to divide the mould cavity into compartments into which concrete is poured and allowed to set. Separate elements of expanded metal interconnected by universal linkages 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 30, 31, 32, 33, Fig. 6, may be used. The interconnected blocks are suitable for footpath edging. The mould wall 4 is pivotally connected to the base 2, Fig. 2, from which the wall 3 extends vertically and the wall 4 is locked in closed position by pin-and-hole latch mechanism 7, 10 at each end. Springs 11 extend between the walls 3 and 4 intermediate the ends. In use, the mould is closed, a layer of concrete is laid between the core elements 14, 15, the sheet 18 is then located in position, the springs 11 are attached to their support pegs and the remainder of the concrete mix is poured into the mould which is then vibrated on a table.
