Abstract

1,162,587. Circlips &c. WALDES KOHl- NOOK Inc. 24 Aug., 1967, No. 39047/67. Heading F2H. A self-locking retaining ring for insertion in a circular bore of a housing 12 comprises a plane, closed ring 10, the external diameter of which is greater than the bore diameter and the ring being deformable to the shape of a Belleville spring washer having an external diameter equal to the diameter of the bore. When the ring is forced into the bore it deforms into a truncated conical shape, the deformation being assisted by recesses 16 cut in the outer edge of the ring. Recesses may also be formed on the inner edge of the ring.
