Abstract

1,036,103. Securing bolt-like pins; cotters; retaining and securing parts on shafts. BAKER & FINNEMORE Ltd. Aug. 13, 1962 [June 10, 1961], No.21056/61. Headings F2H and F2U. [Also in Division E2] A spring steel annulus has an outer portion 7 which is not so dished as an inner portion 8 which is divided by slits or (as shown) slots into fingers 9, extending from the junction of the portions 7, 8, for gripping a spindle, shaft or stud when the outer portion 7 is flattened by a hollow tool against a component through which the spindle &c. passes. The portions 7, 8 of the annulus may be dished conically, Fig. 3, spherically, Fig. 6, or one conically and the other spherically. If the fingers are separated by slits the latter may have circular holes at their roots.
