Abstract

1,162,579. Rotary duplicators. G. RITZERFELD. 26 Sept., 1967 [27 Sept., 1966], No. 43856/67. Heading B6C. A rotary duplicator comprises an inking mechanism having an inking roller 27 and a plate cleaning mechanism, incorporating a roller 19 of good ink receptive resilient material co-operating with the printing cylinder 1. The ink removing roller 19 transfers the ink removed from the plate 6 after each printing operation to a transfer roller 63 of non-resilient but good ink receptive material. The latter is kept clean by a wiper member 54 which directs the ink either to the ink fountain 56 of the duplicator or to a separate removable container. The rollers 19 and 27 are provided with respective masks 26 and 20 which are moved into positions to prevent the rollers acting on the printing cylinder, such movement being automatically controlled by the cyclic operation of the duplicator. The roller 19 only co-operates with that part of the cylinder 1 carrying the printing plate 6. The rollers 27, 53, 44 of the inking mechanism are swingably moved into operative contact with the printing cylinder and ink is transferred from the fountain 56 to the roller 44 by a rubber ink lifter 55. The fountain 56 is pivotally adjustable through supporting angle-bars 58 which are pivotable about bearing-pins at one end.
