Abstract
1,161,625. Preventing corrosion. INGENIEURSBUREAU J. C. VAN DER VELDEHENNING FRANZEN N. V. July 24, 1967 [Aug. 31, 1966], No. 33951/67. Heading C7E To prevent anode or measuring electrode 3 from touching pipe 1, which is to be protected cathodically against corrosion, or its outer protective jacket 2, a non-conducting perforate envelope 4 is placed with clearance about the anode or measuring electrode 3. Anode 3 may be consumable, and be composed of magnesium, zinc or aluminium, or be inert and have a D. C. voltage imposed on it. Silicon steel, platinized titanium or platinized copper may be used as an inert anode. Envelope 4 may be a tube of polyvinyl chloride or natural of synthetic rubber, or may be a fabric or a plaited material. Zinc, silver chloride, calomel and copper/copper-sulphate may be used for a measuring electrode, which may be placed between pipe 1 and jacket 2 either alone or together with an anode.
