Abstract
1,161,497. Spray producers. UNION CARBIDE CORP. 7 Oct., 1966 [11 Oct., 1965], No. 44867/66. Heading B2F '[Also in Division F4] A spray producer comprises a cylindrical tube 12 through which a gas with a minimum velocity of Mach 0.5 flows; an annular groove 18 in the wall of the tube being continually wetted by liquid fed tangentially . from a pipe 24. The liquid flows over the rim of the groove adjacent the downstream end of tube 12 and is pulled of the tube wall by the high velocity gas stream. In another embodiment, fig. 3 the liquid is supplied through a pipe 36 within and co-axial with the gas tube and the liquid passes through transverse ports 42 to groove provided in a plug 40 at the lower end of pipe 36.
