Abstract
1,161,470. Fuel burners. STAR ENG. (GOSPORT) Ltd. 23 May, 1968, No. 24767/68. Heading F4T. A fuel burner 16 comprises a fuel injector nozzle device 24 adjustably mounted in a sleeve 26 to which is secured by rods 27 an air swirler 28 which is located ahead of the nozzle outlet and consists of a plurality of swirl vanes 29 secured to an annular disc 30 lying ahead of vanes 29 and disposed normal to the nozzle's longitudinal axis. Each vane 29 is forwardly inclined relative to a plane lying normal to the nozzle's longitudinal axis at an angle of 30 degrees and the outer end of each vane 29 is inclined relative to disc 30 at an angle of 22¢ degrees. The fuel burner 16 is located within a tube 14 with an annular gap 37 between the tube 14 and the periphery of annular disc 30. Fuel is supplied via a feed tube 21 to nozzle 24 and air is supplied by means of an electrically operated centrifugal type fan or blower through a volute (13) to tube 14. Ignition is effected by means of electrodes 34.
