1,161,436. Gastrostomy device. CHIRANA ZAVODY ZDRAVOTNICKE TECHNIKY, OBOROVY PODNIK ODSTEPNY ZAVOD BRNO. 7 Nov., 1967 [29 Nov., 1966], No. 50478/67. Heading A5R. A gastrostomy device for fitting to the wall of the abdomen to allow for surgical feeding direct to the stomach comprises a body 1 of tubular shape providedat one end with means 5 whereby it may be retained in the abdomen and at its other end with a head portion. 7 including a flap valve, there being a stopper 4 of a. water-repellent non-toxic material engageable with the head portion. As shown, the device is formed with a nared-out end 6 which is covered with a net of a polyester material such that the stomach tissue may grow into the net. The rubber flap valve 2 is said to be tripartite and is held in the head 7of the device by a screw-threaded ring 3, the flap valve preventing re-gurgitation of food. The patient is fed by inserting a feeding tube into the head 7 of the device, a fitting on the feeding tube being said to contact the edges of the valve.
